Notice of Protest Activity: April 20–28, 2021

We have received information indicating multiple public gatherings and protests scheduled for Tuesday, April 20th through Wednesday, April 28th. Tentative info for the protest activity is listed below:

Chauvin Trial Verdict Update

The closing arguments have concluded and final instructions have been given to the jury in the Derek Chauvin trial in Minneapolis. There is no actionable intelligence at this time, however, infrastructure assets will be strategically staged to ensure the safety of residents, neighborhood commercial corridors and critical businesses in the City of Chicago.

The OEMC’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will continue to coordinate the operational response to any incidents related to this event.

  • Unknown time at 110 N Carpenter (McDonald’s HQ). The group will gather for their cause “Don’t Be McFooled. Stop Systemic Racism.”

Tuesday, April 20th, 2021

  • 5:00 pm at 50 W Washington (Daley Plaza). The group will gather for their cause “Chauvin Trial Verdict Announcement” (Nightly protest until verdict announced).

Wednesday, April 21st, 2021

  • 9:00 am at 100 W Randolph (Thompson Center). The group will gather for their cause “Pass the People’s Ordinance!”
  • 11:15 am at 1200 S Lake Shore (Shedd Aquarium) to 100 W Randolph (Thompson Center). The group will gather for their cause “We Want to Work Drive-By Protest for 10,000 Jobs!” (Weekly protest on Wednesdays).

Thursday, Aprill 22nd, 2021

  • 4:30 pm at 69 W Washington (Cook County). The group will gather for their cause “Press Conference Addressing Kim Foxx – Justice for Adam.”

Friday, April 23rd, 2021

  • 5:00 pm at 230 S Dearborn (Federal Plaza). The group will gather for their cause “Verdict Action: Chauvin Murder Trial.”

Saturday, April 24th, 2021

  • 10:00 am at 201 E Randolph (Millennium Park). The group will gather for their cause “Living Donor Meetup 2021.”
  • 12:00 pm at 50 W Washington (Daley Plaza). The group will gather for their cause ““March Against Police Brutality.”
  • 6:00 pm at 69 W Washington (Cook County). The group will gather for their cause “We Need First Degree Murder March & Rally: Nothing Less Kim Foxx.”

Wednesday, April 28th, 2021

  • 11:15 am at 1200 S Lake Shore (Shedd Aquarium) to 100 W Randolph (Thompson Center). The group will gather for their cause “We Want to Work Drive-By Protest for 10,000 Jobs!” (Weekly protest on Wednesdays).

Thursday, April 29th, 2021

  • 12:00 pm at 230 S Dearborn (Federal Plaza). The group will gather for their cause “#FreeTheVaccine.”

Friday, April 30th, 2021

  • 10:00 am at 50 W Washington (Daley Plaza). The group will gather for their cause “Cook County Gun Owners Lobby Day.”
  • 10:00 am at 230 S Dearborn (Federal Plaza). The group will gather for their cause “Children’s March for Rights in Illinois.”
  • 6:00 pm at 50 W Washington (Daley Plaza). The group will gather for their cause “Chicago Critical Mass Bicycle Caravan.”

Safety Tips:

  • If you see something suspicious, report it
  • Carry water and stay hydrated
  • Choose a landmark to meet at in case you are separated from your group
  • Utilize the buddy system
  • Remain alert and be observant of surroundings
  • Leave any valuables at home
  • Do not jump any barricades
  • Secure handbags and wallets
  • Stay calm and pleasant
  • Follow your own instincts
  • Leave yourself room to move quickly
  • If you see an unattended bag, alert police as quickly as possible
