We are not sure the number, if any, but due to last year’s celebration, CPD is preparing for crowds on lake shore drive from September 11th through September 18h. Please anticipate longer travel times and delays.

An updated version of the Annual Air and Water Show will take place this Saturday, August 21st and Sunday, August 22nd.
The U.S. Navy Blue Angels will put on a solo demonstration along the lakefront from noon to 1 p.m., instead of the usual Air and Water Show of previous years. Practice will be on Friday, August 20th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The best viewing locations along the lakefront are between Oak Street and Fullerton Avenue. Getting to the Air and Water Show:
- Pedestrians – Bridges, tunnels or underpasses at Fullerton Avenue, Division Street, Scott Street, Chicago Avenue, North Avenue Beach and Oak Street Beach provide easy access to the lakefront and North Avenue Beach
- Public Transit – The CTA will be providing extra service on the Blue, Brown, Green and Orange lines as well as the 22 Clark bus, 72 North Avenue bus and the 151 Sheridan bus.
- Biking – Bikes are allowed on the beach; Divvy will be offering valet services starting at 10am both days at Lake Shore Drive and North Avenue, Navy Pier and Theater on The Lake
- Ride Share – The pickup/drop off points usually located on the northbound on ramp to Lake Shore Drive at North Avenue will be pushed west towards Clark Street to avoid congestion
