BOMA/Chicago Preparedness Committee Meeting Notes for February 15, 2022

Titan Security is a proud participant in the leadership of the BOMA/Chicago Preparedness Committee, dedicated to the safety of high rise commercial structures in the City of Chicago. Minutes from the most recent monthly meeting of the group on February 15, 2022 are shared below.

  • Hosted by Erin Belknap (Sterling Bay), Tom Henkey (Titan Security), and Ron Tabaczynski (BOMA)
  • Department of Homeland Security / Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (DHS/CISA) presented on the growing threat from foreign hackers given Russia-Ukraine tensions; noted CISA “Shields Up” cyber resources
  • COVID update: the statewide mask mandate in Illinois is expected to conclude at the end of February; City of Chicago is reviewing, and may lag slightly behind
  • The Chicago Police Department Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) is available to tour BOMA member buildings and meet with key staff; specific contact information for the unit will be shared with committee members shortly
  • The Chicago Police Department carjacking task force is continuing investigations and arrests citywide; a related safety flyer was shared with committee members
  • Chicago Public Private Task Force (CPPTF) subcommittee have several relevant projects ongoing, including FIMS/CP3 database, emergency credentialing, camera sharing initiative
  • Public-sector safety reports included:
    • Chicago Police Department District 1: criminal reports and arrests each up YTD; St. Patrick’s Day dyeing of the river on 03/12 will extend slightly west, parade to follow on Columbus Drive
    • Chicago Police Department District 18: criminal reports and arrests each up YTD; Cook County Sheriff’s Police assisting in deterrent patrols
    • Office of Emergency Management and Communications: New representative to committee is pending
  • BOMA Diversity Committee is sponsoring a financial literacy course free to BOMA affiliate members including security and cleaning personnel
  • A committee member survey will be deployed to determine interest in resuming hybrid or in-person meetings in March or April
