Chicago Demonstrations and Events: January 1 to January 15, 2024

In coordination with our cross-sector public safety partners, Titan Security is monitoring the following anticipated protest and special event activities in or near the Chicago Loop and surrounding area from January 1-15, 2024.

Protests and Events

  • Saturday, January 6 at 1:00pm: N Lake Shore/W Hawthorne, Group will gather for their cause “New Year, Call on Durbin to Stop Israel’s Gaza Genocide” ^
  • Saturday, January 6 at 2:00pm: E Delaware/N Michigan, Group will gather for their cause “New Year? No Fur!”
  • Sunday, January 7 at 5:30pm: Logan Square, Group may gather for their cause “Cultural and Health Care Workers Interfaith Vigil for Gaza” *
  • Monday, January 8 at 8:30am: 121 N LaSalle (City Hall), Group may gather for their cause “Cancel the DNC!”
  • Thursday, January 11 at 1:00pm: UIC Campus, Group will gather for their cause “Genocide Supporter Jill Biden is Not Welcome in Chicago” **
  • Thursday, January 11 at 5:00pm: Various Loop locations, Group will gather/drive for their cause “Car Caravan Protest of the Poles and Polinia: In Defense of Free Speech”
  • Friday, January 12 at 6:00pm: Location TBD, Group will gather for their cause “Chicago Buses for March on Washington” ***
  • Saturday, January 13 at 1:00pm: S Michigan/E Ida B Wells, Group will gather/march for their cause “US and UK Hands Off Yemen! End Israeli Genocide in Gaza!” #
  • Ongoing: short-notice protests related to the conflict in Gaza are anticipated to continue, including localized traffic and transit disruptions

Notes/Analysis

^ = Will be targeting a politician’s residence in the area. It is highly likely that they will attempt to block Lake Shore Drive or Marine/Inner Lake Shore. 

* = Current location listed on northwest side of Chicago; previous demonstrations by group gathered at 111 S Michigan (Art Institute)

** = First Lady Jill Biden will be visiting Univ of Illinois Chicago to promote women’s health; protesters can be anticipated

*** = Several suburban sites; Previous buses to Washington D.C. events also loaded at 200 S Columbus (School of the Art Institute)

# = Smaller attendance expected due to frigid weather and protest leadership in D.C.

Event/Protest Best Practices

  • If you see something suspicious, report it
  • Carry water and stay hydrated
  • Choose a landmark to meet at in case you are separated from your group
  • Utilize the buddy system
  • Remain alert and be observant of surroundings
  • Leave any valuables at home
  • Do not jump any barricades
  • Secure handbags and wallets
  • Stay calm and pleasant
  • Follow your own instincts
  • Leave yourself room to move quickly
