Chicago Events and Demonstrations: August 1 to August 15, 2023

In coordination with our cross-sector public safety partnerships, Titan Security is currently monitoring the following special event and demonstration activity in or near the Chicago Loop.

Anticipated Protests and Special Events

  • Thursday, August 3 to Sunday, August 6: 200 S Columbus (Grant Park), Group will gather for their event “Lollapalooza 2023” *
  • Wednesday, August 9 at 9:00am: 646 N Michigan (Starbucks), Group will gather for their cause “Solidarity Sip In (Unionization)”
  • Wednesday, August 9 at 12:00pm: 400 N Michigan (Wrigley Building), Group will gather for their cause “11th Annual Global Action Day for Justice for ‘Comfort Women'”
  • Wednesday, August 9 at 6:00pm: 230 S Dearborn (Federal Plaza), Group will gather for their cause “Chicago Rally to Defend the Tampa 5”
  • Thursday August 10 at 7:00am: 400 N Columbus at Chicago River, Group will gather for their event “2023 Chicago Duck Derby”
  • Friday, August 11 at 10:30am: 230 S Dearborn (Federal Plaza), Group will gather for their cause “A Call to Action: Let’s Take the First Step to Restore Assyria”
  • Friday, August 11 at 12:00pm: 50 W Washington (Daley Plaza), Group will gather for their cause “India Flag Raising Ceremony”
  • Saturday, August 12 at 10:00am: 3500 S M.L. King, Group will gather/march for their event “Bud Billiken Parade” **
  • Saturday, August 12 at 7:00pm: 201 E Randolph (Millennium Park), Group may gather for their event “Teen Trend” ***
  • Monday, August 14 at 12:00pm: 50 W Washington (Daley Plaza), Group will gather for their cause “Pakistani Flag Raising Ceremony”

Notes/Analysis

* = Annual music festival with 100,000 to 110,000 daily attendees; expect extensive street closures in area

** = Event is outside of the Chicago Loop, yet will attract large crowd and result in extensive street closures

*** = Occasional gatherings of teens and young adults driven by social media; attendance highly dependant on weather conditions

Event/Protest Best Practices

  • If you see something suspicious, report it
  • Carry water and stay hydrated
  • Choose a landmark to meet at in case you are separated from your group
  • Utilize the buddy system
  • Remain alert and be observant of surroundings
  • Leave any valuables at home
  • Do not jump any barricades
  • Secure handbags and wallets
  • Stay calm and pleasant
  • Follow your own instincts
  • Leave yourself room to move quickly
