Chicago Special Events and Demonstrations: February 15 to February 28, 2023

In coordination with our cross-sector public-safety partners, Titan Security is monitoring the following protest and event activities in or near the Chicago Loop.

Anticipated Demonstrations and Events

  • Wednesday, February 15 at 6:45pm: 20 N Wacker (Civic Opera House, 15th Floor Gallery), Group will gather for their cause “Protest against Russian Ballet Ann [sic] Karenina” *
  • Friday, February 17 at 12:00pm: 50 W Washington (Daley Plaza), Group will gather for their cause “Kosova’s Independence Day Flag Raising”
  • Friday, February 17 at 6:45pm: 20 N Wacker (Civic Opera House, 15th Floor Gallery), Group will gather for their cause “Protest against Russian Ballet Ann [sic] Karenina” *
  • Saturday, February 18 and Sunday, February 19 at 1:15pm: 20 N Wacker (Civic Opera House, 15th Floor Gallery), Group will gather for their cause “Protest against Russian Ballet Ann [sic] Karenina” *
  • Thursday, February 23 at 4:00pm: 121 N LaSalle (City Hall), Group will gather for their cause “Youth & Parents: March to the Polls”
  • Thursday, February 23 at 5:00pm: 205 N Michigan (Fox 32), Group will gather for their cause “#justiceforjalen”
  • Saturday, February 25 at 10:00am: 806 N Michigan (Water Tower), Group will assemble for their cause “Worldwide Rally Against Trophy Hunting”
  • Saturday, February 25 at 12:00pm: 50 W Washington (Daley Plaza), Group will gather for their cause “Stop the War in Ukraine: Charge the Criminals” *
  • Sunday, February 26 at 8:00am: 24 E Washington and 224 W Van Buren, Helicopter equipment lifts scheduled; weather dependent; expect localized street closures

Notes/Analysis

* = Note that any public event with a Russian affiliation, including cultural events, may be targeted by pro-Ukrainian protesters, particularly around the 1-year anniversary of the war on 02/23-02/24

Event/Protest Best Practices

  • If you see something suspicious, report it
  • Carry water and stay hydrated
  • Choose a landmark to meet at in case you are separated from your group
  • Utilize the buddy system
  • Remain alert and be observant of surroundings
  • Leave any valuables at home
  • Do not jump any barricades
  • Secure handbags and wallets
  • Stay calm and pleasant
  • Follow your own instincts
  • Leave yourself room to move quickly
