Street Closures and Safety Tips for Lollapalooza

The return of Chicago’s biggest music festival, Lollapalooza begins this Thursday, July 29th and runs through Sunday, August 1st. Below is information regarding street closures for the event as well as safety tips to help get you prepared.

Monday, July 19th – Friday, August 6th

  • Jackson Dr. – between Columbus / Lake Shore

Monday, July 26th – Monday, August 2nd

  • Balbo Dr. – between Michigan / Columbus
  • Jackson Dr. – between Michigan / Columbus
  • Columbus Dr. – between Monroe / Roosevelt
  • Columbus Dr. – between Monroe / Roosevelt
  • Columbus Dr. (2 center lanes) – between 13th Street / Roosevelt
  • Congress Pkwy / Circle – between Michigan / Columbus

Wednesday, July 28th – Monday, August 2nd

Safety Tips for Lollapalooza

  • If you see something suspicious, report it
  • Carry water and stay hydrated
  • Choose a landmark to meet at in case you are separated from your group
  • Utilize the buddy system
  • Remain alert and be observant of surroundings
  • Leave any valuables at home
  • Do not jump any barricades
  • Secure handbags and wallets
  • Stay calm and pleasant
  • Follow your own instincts
  • Leave yourself room to move quickly
  • If you see an unattended bag, alert police as quickly as possible
