Updated Protest and Special Event Activities: December 2021 to January 2022

In conjunction with our cross-sector public safety partners, Titan Security is monitoring a number of anticipated demonstrations and special events in the Chicago area. Additional information is provided below.

Anticipated Event Activity

  • Wednesday December 22 @ 11:00am: 100 W Randolph (Thompson Center), Group will gather for their cause “Listen to Palestinian Voices! Investigate the Work of the IIPB’s Committee on Israel Boycott Restrictions”
  • Thursday December 23 @ 4:30pm, 50 W Washington (Daley Plaza/Christkindlmarket), Group will gather for their cause(s) “No Oil & Gas Pipelines.” and ” Stand with Wet’suwet’en Land Defenders – Defund Coastal Gaslink.”
  • Friday, December 31 @ 12:00pm, 435 N Michigan, Group will gather for thier cause “Remembering the Children We’ve Lost, New Year’s Eve March”
  • Friday December 31 @ 5:00pm: 50 W Washington (Daley Plaza), Group will gather/ride for their cause “Critical Mass Bicycle Caravan”
  • Friday December 31 @ 5:00pm: 201 E Randolph (Millennium Park), Group may gather for their event “Teen Trend Meet Up” *
  • Friday December 31 @ 12 midnight: Riverwalk and Navy Pier, Group(s) will gather for their event “City of Chicago Fireworks Displays” **
  • Thursday, January 6, 2022 @ 5:30pm, 230 S Dearborn (Federal Plaza), Group will gather for their cause “Rise Up, Speak Out: A Vigil for Democracy”
  • Saturday, January 8 @ 10:00am, 121 N LaSalle (City Hall), Group will gather for their cause “Freedom of Choice Rally – No Vax Passes!”
  • Saturday January 8, 2022 @ 12:00pm: 230 S Dearborn (Federal Plaza), Group will gather for their cause “Counter the March for Lies” ***
  • Saturday January 8, 2022 @ 1:00pm: 230 S Dearborn (Federal Plaza), Group will gather for their cause “March for Life Chicago 2022” ***

Notes/Analysis

* = Attendance at previous Trend teen gatherings have been highly weather-dependent

** = Two official fireworks zones will be utilized on the night of New Year’s Eve – one at Navy Pier (600 East Grand) and one along the eastern end of the Riverwalk (30 East Wacker)

*** = Annual protest and counterprotest; tensions raised this year due to pending U.S. Supreme Court ruling on abortion access

Safety Tips Near/During Protests

  • If you see something suspicious, report it
  • Carry water and stay hydrated
  • Choose a landmark to meet at in case you are separated from your group
  • Utilize the buddy system
  • Remain alert and be observant of surroundings
  • Leave any valuables at home
  • Do not jump any barricades
  • Secure handbags and wallets
  • Stay calm and pleasant
  • Follow your own instincts
  • Leave yourself room to move quickly
