Chicago Protest and Special Event Activity: September 1 to September 15, 2024

In coordination with our cross-sector public safety partners, Titan Security is monitoring the following anticipated demonstrations and special events in or near the Chicago Loop. Listings are grouped into two-week periods and updated on a regular basis.

Events and Protests

  • Sunday, September 1 at 6:00am: DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Group will gather/ride for their event “Bike the Drive”
  • Sunday, September 1 at 12:00pm: 400 S Columbus, Group will gather/march for their cause “This Parade of Nations, International Association of Women in Law Enforcement”
  • Monday, September 2 at 2:00pm: E Ida B Wells/S Michigan, Group will gather for their cause “End the Genocide in Gaza!”
  • Tuesday, September 3 at 12:00pm: 303 E Superior (Querrey Research Building), Group will gather for their cause “Rally for Fair Pay”
  • Tuesday, September 3 at 5:00pm: 500 W Madison (Israeli Consulate), Group will gather for their cause “Solidarity Rally for Peace”
  • Friday, September 6 to Sunday, September 8: Grant Park, Group will gather for their event “Taste of Chicago”
  • Saturday, September 7 to Sunday, September 8: 400-700 S Dearborn (Printer’s Row), Group will gather for their event “Printer’s Row Lit Fest”
  • Saturday, September 7 at 2:00pm: 806 N Michigan (Water Tower), Group will gather/march for their cause “End the Siege on Gaza Now!”
  • Sunday, September 8 at 12:00pm: 1210 Special Olympics (Soldier Field), Group will gather for their event “NFL Chicago Bears Game”
  • Thursday, September 12 at 3:00pm: 301 S Columbus (Grant Park), Group may gather for their event “Thugshakedown 4” *
  • Friday, September 13 and Saturday, September 14: Various Loop Locations, Group will gather/drive for their event “Mexican Independence Day Car Caravans” **
  • Saturday, September 14 and Sunday, September 15: Grant Park, Group will gather for their event “El Grito Festival”
  • Sunday, September 15 at 5:00pm: 71 W Van Buren, Group will gather for their cause “Running Down the Walls: Bike & Run in Solidarity with Political Prisoners”
  • Ongoing: short-notice protests related to the conflict in Gaza are anticipated to continue, including localized traffic and transit disruptions

Notes/Analysis

* = Possible small gathering by white nationalist “groyper” and QAnon attendees; previous announced events had little or no attendance

** = Annual post-pandemic event involving cars with Mexican flags, music, etc; City will implement traffic protection plan to control routes, but localized traffic disruptions will occur

Event/Protest Best Practices

  • If you see something suspicious, report it
  • Carry water and stay hydrated
  • Choose a landmark to meet at in case you are separated from your group
  • Utilize the buddy system
  • Remain alert and be observant of surroundings
  • Leave any valuables at home
  • Do not jump any barricades
  • Secure handbags and wallets
  • Stay calm and pleasant
  • Follow your own instincts
  • Leave yourself room to move quickly
