Chicago Special Event and Demonstration Activity: August 15 to August 31, 2024

In partnership with our coalition of public safety agencies and organizations, Titan Security is monitoring the following special event and protest activity in or near the Chicago Loop. This list includes events related to the 2024 Democratic National Convention (DNC). Listings are grouped into two-week periods and updated on a regular basis.

Anticipated Protests and Special Events

  • Thursday, August 15 at 4:00pm: 121 N LaSalle (City Hall), Group will gather for their cause “Defend Our Right to Rally”
  • Saturday, August 17 at 4:00pm: 301 S Columbus (Buckingham Fountain), Group will gather/march for their cause “Shutdown Lake Shore Drive: Justice for Sonya Massey”
  • Saturday, August 17 at 7:00pm: 600 E Grand (Navy Pier), Group will gather for their event “DNC Media Welcome Party”
  • Sunday, August 18 at 5:00pm: 350 N Michigan (at Wacker), Group will gather/march for their cause “LGBTQ+/Women’s Rights: Bodies Outside of Unjust Laws”
  • Sunday, August 18 at 7:00pm: 600 E Grand (Navy Pier), Group will gather for their event “DNC Delegate Welcome Party”
  • Monday, August 19 at 8:00am: 1501 W Randolph (Union Park), Group may gather for their cause “U.S. Palestinian Community Network March”
  • Monday, August 19 to Thursday, August 22: 2301 S Martin Luther King (McCormick Place), Group will gather for daytime DNC events
  • Monday, August 19 to Thursday, August 22: 1901 W Madison (United Center), Group will gather for evening DNC events
  • Monday, August 19 at 12:00pm: 1501 W Randolph (Union Park), Group will gather/march for their cause “March on the DNC”
  • Monday, August 19 at 4:00pm: 1200 N California (Humboldt Park), Group will gather/march for their cause “Poor Peoples Army” *
  • Tuesday, August 20 at 9:00am: West Loop Location TBD, Group may gather for their cause “Hostage Square Chicago: Israeli-American Council”
  • Tuesday, August 20 at 10:30am: 401 N Michigan (Apple Store), Group may gather for their cause “Solidarity Rally”
  • Tuesday, August 20, Time TBD: 900 W Madison, Group may gather/march for their cause “Chicago Firefighters Local 2 Contract March”
  • Tuesday, August 20 at 7:00pm: 500 W Madison (Israeli Consulate), Group will gather/march for their cause “Shut Down the DNC for Gaza!” ^
  • Wednesday, August 21 at 3:30/4:30pm: 1501 W Randolph (Union Park), Group will gather/march for their cause “CJP/AMP Pro-Palestinian March” ^
  • Wednesday, August 21 at 5:00pm: 1919 W Maypole (Park 578), Group will gather for their cause “Show Support for Israel”
  • Thursday, August 22 at 12:00pm: 1501 W Randolph (Union Park), Group may gather for their cause “Israel Loves America”
  • Thursday, August 22 at 5:00pm: 1501 W Randolph (Union Park), Group will gather/march for their cause “March on the DNC” **
  • Thursday, August 22 at 7:00pm: 1410 Special Olympics (Soldier Field), Group will gather for their event “DNC Acceptance Speech Watch Party”
  • Saturday, August 24 at 5:00pm: 1135 S Delano (Roosevelt Collection), Group may gather for their event “Teen Trend”
  • Sunday, August 31 at 9:00am: 1200 N LaSalle (Planned Parenthood), Group will gather for their cause “Rally for Justice”
  • Ongoing: small-scale events (official and unofficial) and short-notice protests related to the Democratic National Convention will continue, including localized traffic and transit disruptions

* = Group intends to march to north side of United Center on Monday evening
** = March was originally scheduled to step off from 1403 W 14th St (Addams/Medill Park)

^ = Anticipate counterprotesters and a large police presence

Event/Protest Best Practices

  • If you see something suspicious, report it
  • Carry water and stay hydrated
  • Choose a landmark to meet at in case you are separated from your group
  • Utilize the buddy system
  • Remain alert and be observant of surroundings
  • Leave any valuables at home
  • Do not jump any barricades
  • Secure handbags and wallets
  • Stay calm and pleasant
  • Follow your own instincts
  • Leave yourself room to move quickly
