BOMA/Chicago Preparedness Committee Meeting Notes for January 18, 2022

Titan Security is a proud participant in the leadership of the BOMA/Chicago Preparedness Committee, dedicated to the safety of high rise commercial structures in the City of Chicago. Minutes from the most recent monthly meeting of the group on January 18, 2022 are shared below.

  • Meeting hosted by Ron Tabaczynski (BOMA), Erin Belknap (Sterling Bay), and Tom Henkey (Titan Security).
  • Videoconference via Microsoft Teams with approximately 45 attendees
  • Hosts provided a recap of recent joint meeting between the leadership of the BOMA/Chicago Preparedness and Communications committees
  • Public sector agencies in attendance included: Chicago Fire Department (CFD), Chicago Police Department District 1 (CPD1), Chicago Police Department District 18 (CPD18), Crime Prevention and Information center (CPIC), Department of Homeland Security and Cybersecurity Infrastructure Security Agency (DHS/CISA), Metra Rail

  • Chicago Fire Department
    CFD reps on future calls will include safety and operations; fire safety director (FSD) course will return to in-person learning in Q1; high-rise life safety conference rescheduled for October 2022 at Willis Tower
  • Chicago Police Department 1st District
    Special event have slowed after holidays; Auto Show is in February; crime stats up overall year-to-date, including smash and grab from vehicles in parking garages this week
  • Chicago Police Department 18th District
    Protests are minimal; burglaries and vehicle thefts up YTD; high-end retail thefts continue, task force very active
  • Crime Prevention and Information Center
    The FIMS/CP3 database is being updated; threat assessments underway for upcoming large-scale events
  • Department of Homeland Security/Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency
    Cyberattack in Ukraine may pose risk to U.S. firms; in-person, small-group training remains available via local DHS office
  • Metra Rail
    Ridership peaked just prior to holidays, has dropped again due to Omicron variant; training and drills are ongoing 

  • Update provided on subcommittees of the Chicago Public Private Task Force (CPPTF) including FIMS and credentialing
  • DHS will be hosting call on threats to houses of worship at 3:00pm CT on January 18, 2022
  • Next meeting will be on the morning of February 15, 2022
